The blossom of a Magnolia is one of the most beautiful flowers I know. Ok, I love them all but the Magnolia is pretty special. I painted this lovely flower with watercolor and added ink and graphite to really bring it to life.
I had a lot of fun painting this Thistle. Way more fun painting it than trying to get it out of my garden. Watercolor, ink, graphite and lots of splashes and splatters make this Thistle painting unique.
It was such fun the first time that I painted this posey again. Echinacia #2 is painted with watercolors then I added graphite because well, it was on my table and I wanted to see how it looked. It turned out great, don’t you think?
A big, bright yellow sunflower painting hanging on the wall is such a great way to bring the summer and sunshine into your home all year long. This one is watercolor paint, ink and graphite.
When the cherry trees bloom then you know it’s really spring but did you know that Cherry blossom is known for its rich anti-oxidant levels and soothing properties. Rich in essential fatty acid so it could repair the skin's natural barriers. I painted these pretty blossoms with watercolor in soft pink and grey with a little green added to the stems. Ink and graphite are also used in this painting.
I googled it, and everyone agrees that Lavender can reduce anxiety. I’m not sure that a painting of Lavender will do the same but who knows. It could be worth a try. This painting is so sweet and simple. Sprigs of lavender in mauve, blue and white on a lovely splash of lavender, of course, painted background. I added my pen lines to make it a “ Lori Original”.
Chamomile tea is loaded with antioxidants that may play a role in lowering your risk of several diseases, including heart disease and cancer. That is a lot of power for such a little flower. This painting is done in watercolor with ink and graphite added to bring some life to it.
Thistle is most often used for liver conditions and the herb is believed by some to prevent or treat high cholesterol, diabetes, heartburn, upset stomach (dyspepsia ), hangover, gallbladder problems, menstrual pain, depression, and even certain types of cancer. That’s a lot for a weed that I usually pull out of my garden. I will keep painting it. The splatters and splashes are so much fun to do.
Promoters of echinacea say that the herb encourages the immune system and reduces many of the symptoms of colds. I have a lovely Echinacea in my garden in Saskatchewan and it makes me smile everytime I see it. Maybe this little watercolor painting will do the same and make you smile. Graphite and a little ink were added to make this painting extra special.
Hibiscus is packed with antioxidants. I love to drink tea with hibiscus and I have used the dried blossoms to dye fabric. This flower is lovely to look at and good for us too. I did this little painting with watercolor, ink and graphite.
